Denis Sinor

Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Central Eurasian Studies at Indiana University, Denis Sinor was born in Hungary on April 17, 1916 and educated in Hungary, Switzerland, and France. Between 1939 and 1948, he held various teaching and research assignments in France. During WWII he rendered modest services to the French Resistance; he joined the Free French Forces and was demobilized in November 1945.

AHEA is accepting applications for the annual AHEA Research Presentation Awards. These awards support scholars by contributing to expenses related to attendance at AHEA’s annual conference. Two or three yearly awards of 500 USD will be given, depending on availability of funding.

Washington, DC – Members of the Hungarian American Coalition (Coalition) were deeply saddened to learn that Dr. Béla Bognár, Professor Emeritus of the Departments of Social Work and Medicine in Society at Wright State University and founder of the Coalition’s Bognár Family Hungarian Scholarship Fund passed away on September 24, 2019. He was 88 years old.
